Most Common Invisalign Questions on Google Answered!

Q: How much does Invisalign roughly cost?
A: The cost of Invisalign treatment varies based on the complexity of the case and the length of treatment. On average, Invisalign can cost anywhere from £1995 – £4995. However, many dental practices, including New River Dental in Enfield, offer payment plans and financing options to make treatment more affordable. Finance should never be a barrier to attaining healthcare.

Q: Why is Invisalign so expensive?
A: Invisalign treatment is customized for each individual patient, and the cost reflects the amount of time and expertise required to create a personalized treatment plan and manufacture the custom aligners. Additionally, the cost of Invisalign includes regular appointments with the dentist / orthodontist to ensure that the treatment is progressing as planned.

Q: How much of a hassle is Invisalign?
A: Invisalign is generally considered less of a “hassle” than traditional metal braces for most people’s lifestyle. The aligners are removable, so patients can eat and drink whatever they like during treatment. They can also brush and floss normally without the need for special tools. However, patients must commit to wearing the aligners for at least 22 hours per day to ensure that the treatment is effective. Therefore, compliance is essential! If patient’s think they are unlikely to be compliant they should consider fixed traditional braces as the alternative.

Q: Is Invisalign worth the money?
A: Yes, many patients find that Invisalign is worth the investment because it offers a discreet, comfortable and convenient way to straighten teeth. Additionally, Invisalign aligners are custom-made for each patient, which can result in a more precise and efficient treatment than traditional braces.

Q: Who is not a candidate for Invisalign?
A: Invisalign may not be the best treatment option for patients with severe orthodontic issues or for those who require significant tooth movement. Additionally, patients who are not committed to wearing the aligners as directed or who have trouble keeping the aligners clean may not be good candidates for Invisalign. Thankfully, at New River Dental we have a specialist orthodontist whom can best advise you whether Invisalign or fixed braces is suitable for your specific case.

Q: Is Invisalign painful?
A: Invisalign is typically less painful than traditional metal braces. Patients may experience some discomfort or pressure when they switch to a new set of aligners, but this usually subsides within a few days.

Q: Do you wear Invisalign all day?
A: Yes, to ensure that the treatment is effective, patients must wear Invisalign aligners for at least 20-22 hours per day. The aligners should only be removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.

Q: Why do my teeth feel loose with Invisalign?
A: It is normal for teeth to feel slightly loose during Invisalign treatment as they shift into their new positions. This sensation should subside as the teeth become more stable in their new positions. This is the case with any form of orthodontic treatment.

Q: Do you have to wear a retainer forever with Invisalign?
A: It is recommended that patients wear a retainer after Invisalign treatment to maintain the new position of their teeth. The length of time that a retainer must be worn varies depending on the individual case, but many patients are advised to wear a retainer for at least a year following treatment at the very minimum. But at New River Dental we advise retention is for life if you want to keep straight teeth!

Q: Do teeth stay straight after Invisalign?
A: As long as patients wear their retainers as directed after Invisalign treatment, their teeth should remain straight. However, teeth can shift over time, so it is important to continue wearing a retainer as advised by your dentist / orthodontist.
